Amelia Gilchrist recently earned her bachelor’s degree from Brown University with a concentration in environmental science. During an internship with the Environmental Crimes Section at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., she worked on a variety of cases ranging from animal smuggling to vessel pollution and conducted legal and nonlegal research. As a community organizer for Clean Water Action, she gathered community support for measures opposing offshore drilling and defended the Clean Water Rule and Clean Power Plan. She hopes to use environmental and climate change policy to work towards a healthy and equitable carbon-neutral future. Amelia swam on the Brown University women’s swimming and diving team. She is from Greensboro, North Carolina.
