Manuel Ávalos recently graduated from Brown University with a degree in public policy. He was an intern at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he focused on international legal assistance and extradition. He hopes to combine his policy and linguistic skills to perform policy work in local communities or at the international level. Manuel placed in the top five poets at the International College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational. Manuel is originally from San José, California. He speaks Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Japanese, and American Sign Language.
