In wake of recent events, The Choices Program introduced a new Teaching with the News lesson entitled "History in Dispute: Charlottesville and Confederate Monuments." In the lesson, students explore the concept of historical memory, contextualize the events in Charlottesville in the broader controversy about Confederate monuments, and critically appraise media sources that offer multiple perspectives on what should be done about Confederate monuments.
