John Friedman Named Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Public Economics

John Friedman, Associate Professor of Economics, has recently been named the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Public Economics.

John N. Friedman, Associate Professor of Economics, will join Wojciech Kopczukas as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Public Economics.

Since 1972, the Journal of Public Economics has ranked among the most prestigious monthly peer-reviewed academic journals covering public economics. The Journal has a particular field emphasis on the application of modern economic theory and methods of quantitative analysis. It provides a forum for discussion of public policy of interest to an international readership.

"It’s an honor to follow in JPubE’s tradition of excellence, starting all the way back with founder Tony Atkinson," said Friedman. "Wojciech and I are committed to making the Journal more responsive. I’m also especially thrilled to mentor the next generation of scholars as co-editors."

Friedman’s appointment follows four years on the Editorial Board of the American Economic Journal.

Opportunity Insights co-founder Raj Chetty also served as the Journal of Public Economics Editor-in-Chief from 2012-2015.
