Watson Postdoctoral Fellow Named 2022 Guggenheim Emerging Scholar

Watson Postdoctoral Fellow Liana Woskie was named a 2022 Guggenheim Emerging Scholar for her dissertation project titled "Quantifying Structural Violence: Female Sterilization and Normalized State Repression in Healthcare."

The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation announced the selection of 2022 HFG Emerging Scholars. The eight doctoral candidates—chosen through a rigorous, peer-review competition—are working to advance knowledge of the causes, manifestations, and control of violence around the world. In selecting the awardees, highest priority was given to research that addresses urgent, contemporary problems of violence. The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation is a leader in creating and disseminating knowledge on the nature, consequences, and reduction of violence in its many forms, including war, crime, and human aggression.

Among those awarded was Watson Postdoctoral Fellow Liana Woskie (London School of Economics) for her dissertation project, "Quantifying Structural Violence: Female Sterilization and Normalized State Repression in Healthcare."
