Iran State Sanctions Project

The Iran State Sanctions Project is a collaborative initiative among faculty of the Watson Institute's Security Program, Middle East Studies, and Taubman Center with Brown undergraduate students to analyze American state-based sanctions on Iran. As part of the Obama Administration's landmark agreement with Iran (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, along with P-5 countries. Germany, and the European Union) to constrain Iranian development of nuclear weapons, US unilateral nuclear sanctions were lifted on January 16, 2016. The project focuses on state-level legislation and regulations that seek to limit investment, contracting, and other activities with firms that do business in Iran, and the potential impact of these measures.
