CCSA Thesis Prize in South Asian Studies

The Center for Contemporary South Asia is pleased to offer the inaugural CCSA Prize in South Asian Studies.  The prize will be awarded annually for an outstanding honors thesis on issues related to South Asian Studies in any discipline.  CCSA invites faculty OR thesis-writing students in all concentration fields to nominate honors theses for the 2018 prize.  If you wish to nominate a thesis, please send a pdf of the thesis to the CCSA Director of Undergraduate Studies, Sarah Besky (sarah_besky@brown.edu) under the subject line “CCSA Thesis Prize.”  The deadline is May 1, 2018 at 4pm.  Awards will be announced in advance of Commencement.  The CCSA Thesis Prize carries with it an award of $500.   

CCSA Undergraduate Paper Prize

The Center for Contemporary South Asia is pleased to announce the 2018 undergraduate student paper prize. CCSA invites submissions of a completed paper written in any class or independent study on a topic relevant to South Asian Studies for consideration for the prize.  Up to four prize papers will be selected for inclusion in an undergraduate paper panel held during the Spring 2018 semester. Students selected for the prize are expected to present a 15-minute synopsis of their paper on this panel.  The length of the paper is open as is the disciplinary and/or theoretically orientation.  Submissions are welcome from faculty and from self-nominations.

If you wish to submit a paper for consideration, please send a pdf of the paper to the CCSA Director of Undergraduate Studies, Sarah Besky (sarah_besky@brown.edu) under the subject line “CCSA Paper Panel Submission.”  The deadline is February 1, 2018 at 4pm.
