Project Title: Shifting Sands: Migrants and Mobilities in the Brahmaputra Valley
Project Title (tentative): Crafting Lives: Silk, Weaving and Belonging in Northeast India
Radhika Moral is a third year PhD student in Anthropology. She studies textiles (silk) through questions of labor, consumption and distinction and examinea silk's attendant social and cultural histories in Northeast India. The study draws from broader fields of feminist political economy, political ecology and indigeneity to understand these questions. Prior to Brown, she completed a master's degree in Cultural Studies from Dartmouth College, 2018 and a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Delhi University, 2015. For her Master's thesis at Brown, she worked on migration, citizenship and the politics of indigeneity in Northeast India, particularly in Assam.
