Prerna Singh Interviewed by CNA About India Name Change Row

September 12, 2023

Prerna Singh has recently been interviewed by CNA, the news and current affairs channel of Singapore’s national media network.

The interview delved into the ongoing row in India on the referring of the country as "Bharat" (one of the country's two official names). According to Singh, while this is not the first time the Indian regime has stunned Indians with abrupt and destabilizing changes, "this, the change in name, is quite unprecedented and quite a stunner".

Prerna Singh is Mahatma Gandhi Associate Professor of Political Science and International Studies and faculty fellow at the Watson Institute. Her research focuses on comparative politics, political economy of development, social welfare, and politics of South Asia and East Asia.
