Biography

Victor Alabi holds a Ph.D. in African Linguistics with a specialization in African Languages and Cultures from Indiana University. Dr. Alabi currently teaches at the Center for Language Studies, Department of World Languages and Cultures at Brown University. A former Fulbright FLTA, Dr. Alabi has taught at both Indiana University and Brown University for about ten years. It is noteworthy that Dr. Alabi has made over thirty-five research and pedagogical presentations at conferences and workshops in the United States and around the world. Moreover, Dr. Alabi has published about fifteen publications in peer-reviewed journals and books. Dr. Alabi is a Faculty Affiliate of the Program in Linguistics as well as the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs both at Brown University. He is also an affiliated scholar of the West African Linguistic Institute at Indiana University. Dr. Alabi is a Co-Editor of Ìmọ̀ Èdè: Journal of Yorùbá Language Pedagogy. In the Spring of 2023, Dr. Alabi was awarded the 2023 Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning, sponsored by the Brown University Campus-Based Grants, Center for Language Studies, Brown University.
