Director of Undergraduate Fellowships

Meg Bourgeois is a political theorist who was born and raised in Rumford, Maine. For her undergraduate degree she studied political science with minors in history and developmental biology at the University of Southern Maine. She completed her doctoral degree in May of 2023 at Brown University with a dissertation entitled, “Those Who Cook Also Build Fires: a Theory of Insurgent Care.” Her work explores the implications of incorporating the aims and principles of care work with political action, particularly in the context of disaster response in the United States. She couples her theoretical analysis with interviews and participant observation, investigating the perceptions and experiences of care workers in disaster response nonprofits.
