Elijah Dahunsi
Elijah Dahunsi is a member of the class of '25 concentrating in History and Religious Studies. His research with the Stone Inequality Initiative focuses on the effects of financialization and private equity on the Rhode Island healthcare system. He conducted interviews for his project with numerous stakeholders in Rhode Island state government and affected local hospitals. These interviews will be published in partnership with the Brown Political Review.
Elijah believes that studying the impact of wealth inequality in healthcare is especially important at this moment in history as the increased, unregulated financialization of health systems has led to hospital closures and decreased health access in marginalized communities across the country. The aim of his project is to fully communicate the magnitude of private equity's influence and leverage the insights of governmental and community stakeholders in imagining new ways of organizing healthcare.
“In the future, I hope to pursue both an academic and medical career, combining my interests in the humanities and medicine in research that produces social impact.”
