Sophia Block (she/her) is a senior at Brown University double concentrating in sociology as well as international and public affairs. Her research project this year will examine the intersection of race and class for Latinx-identifying college students. Sophia will conduct interviews with students who have one college-educated parent and one parent who does not have a postsecondary degree. Sophia will analyze whether these students accept or reject the label of a first-generation college student and examine the intergenerational transmission of educational advantage in college settings. Sophia is very interested in criminal justice reform and education and hopes to pursue a career path focused on one of these areas.
