Public Policy concentrator Asia Nelson ’15 has been awarded a Scott Weiss Scholarship, a merit-based award granted to alumni from the T. Howard Foundation internship program. Nelson, who interned with BBC America through the foundation last summer, is among ten undergraduate scholarship recipients nationwide. The scholarships provide students interested in the media industry with financial assistance with academic and career pursuits. Nelson used her scholarship funds to attend Pangea Starting Point, an international conference that brought 200 young leaders together in Madrid late in January.
“We discussed disruptive innovations, entrepreneurial endeavors, and met with leading young people from around the globe. It provided me with the unique opportunity to network and connect with diverse, young talent,” says Nelson. Named after cable and satellite technology visionary and Stanford University professor Taylor Howard, the T. Howard Foundation is dedicated to supporting and advancing diversity in the multimedia and entertainment industry.
