Wednesday, April 3, 2019

12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Joukowsky Forum, 111 Thayer Street

In this research Cowan investigates the role of previously unstudied organizations and individuals and in constructing the platform(s) of today’s Religious Right. Brazilians, especially the leadership of TFP, played a critical part in joining moral and social reaction to what became known as fiscal conservatism, helping create an identitarian sense of deregulatory, pro-capitalist, moralistic right-wing activism and ideology.

Benjamin Cowan is Associate Professor of History at the University of California San Diego.
