In this lecture, Professor de Souza seeks to explore through ethnographic narratives, the multilayered nuances of a complex scenario in which while black culture is consumed and exported as “exotic” expressions of “Brazilianess”, while state and civil society support and sanction multiple forms of violence against black/impoverished bodies.
