Brown China Summit is an annual event organized by a team of Brown undergraduate and graduate students. It is sponsored by the China Initiative at the Watson Institute for International Studies. The summit was created with the goal of bridging Brown and by creating opportunities for face-to-face conversations with leading figures in various fields, discussing China-related topics and introducing the dynamics in the development of China through speeches and presentations.
The theme of Brown China Summit 2015, “China’s Stride Forward,” is an extension of the individual’s “Chinese dream” to his or her aspirations for China’s future. Today, more than 60 years after formation of the People’s Republic of China and three decades of unparalleled rapid economic growth, what lies ahead for this nation is an interesting and important topic that warrants examination. During this exciting time of transformation, newfangled ideas become the norm. Brown China Summit 2015 explores perspectives from education, entrepreneurship and technology, art, and environmental public policy to facilitate discussion on and promote a deeper understanding of China’s “new normal.”
Brown China Summit 2015 consists of two keynote speeches and four panels (Art, Education, Entrepreneurship and Technology, and Public Policy).
