Alison Howell’s research explores the politics of medicine in global affairs, with a focus on mental health, security, and global governance. She is the author of Madness in International Relations: Psychology, Security and the Global Governance of Mental Health (2011). She has also published in the areas of gender and foreign policy and the politics of detention and mental health reform in Iraq.
