John Hazen White Professor of Public Policy and Professor of Political Science and Urban Studies James Morone will expand on his newest book, Republic of Wrath: How American Politics Turned Tribal, from George Washington to Donald Trump.

Professor Morone is the author of ten award-winning books, including The Heart of Power: Health and Politics in the Oval Office, The Democratic Wish, and Hellfire Nation (for which he was nominated for a Pulitzer prize).

He will be joined by Taubman Interim Director, Professor Richard Arenberg for a discussion of Republic of Wrath, which presents a new and insightful analysis of partisanship and party polarization in American history and other current events. The subject has enhanced relevance in the wake of the pandemic and the events following the 2020 election, including the attack on the U.S. Capitol and the second impeachment of former president Donald Trump.
