Last year the Watson Institute began a program aimed at helping faculty members write commentaries for newspaper op-ed pages and world affairs web sites. The program offers help in both editing pieces and placing them. This year it will continue. Stephen Kinzer, author of many op-ed commentaries, will explain how the program works and give pointers on how to write short, effective advocacy articles for the non-academic press.
Stephen Kinzer spent more than 20 years working for the New York Times, most of it as a foreign correspondent. He reported from more than 50 countries on five continents. Since leaving the Times, Kinzer has taught journalism, political science and international relations at Northwestern and Boston University. He writes a world affairs column for the Boston Globe and is a senior fellow at the Watson Institute.
