With her extensive experience covering the House Republican Leadership and the GOP Caucus, Olivia will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate workings of the Republican Party in Congress. She will share stories from the frontlines of Capitol Hill, offering insights into the personalities and power struggles that define the House GOP.

Olivia will be joined by Professor Wendy Schiller for a robust conversation on the potential impact of the 2024 presidential election on Congress and the broader Republican agenda. Together, they will explore how the election could reshape the dynamics within the House GOP and influence legislative priorities in the years ahead. This event is a must-attend for anyone interested in the intersection of media, politics, and policy, and the critical role that Congressional reporting plays in shaping public understanding of government. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to engage with two experts as they unpack the future of the GOP in a pivotal election year.

Olivia Beavers is a congressional reporter for POLITICO, focusing on House Republicans and GOP leadership. Olivia first joined the Congress team on Jan. 3, 2021, as author of the Huddle newsletter. Just three days in, Olivia was the first to author an inside-the-room perspective hours after being trapped in the House chamber during the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.

Prior to joining POLITICO, Olivia regularly broke news covering House-led investigations for The Hill, including scoops during the first impeachment of then-President Donald Trump where she served as the outlet’s lead impeachment reporter. Olivia also has written extensively about former Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe and the parallel congressional Russia investigations.

A Virginia native and a University of Virginia graduate, Olivia got her start in Washington in 2016 as a news associate at CNN, where she ran scripts and survived teleprompting for various shows during the hectic presidential election. She started at The Hill as a breaking news reporter before covering cybersecurity and then national security. In her free time, Olivia is a horse lover, amateur card shark and book worm.
