Master of Public Affairs students Graham Sheridan '14 and Adolfo Bailon '14
will present results from their study of the Town of Narragansett’s vehicle maintenance program to the Narragansett Town Council on Monday, September 16 at 6:30 p.m. The second-year MPA students were commissioned by the Council to conduct the study this past summer.
Sheridan and Bailon reviewed current maintenance practices, performed financial analysis of maintenance costs, and interviewed neighboring town officials (including city/town managers, public works directors, and fleet managers) to identify their vehicle maintenance practices. The two graduate students also met with private auto repair facilities to obtain a private industry perspective on the issue.
Sheridan and Bailon will present their findings to the town council during the work session meeting, which takes place prior to the regular bimonthly town council meeting. The graduate students worked on the analysis with Interim Narragansett Town Manager Richard Kerbel, who is an adjunct professor at the Taubman Center for Public Policy and American Institutions. Both students took Dr. Kerbel’s State and Local Government Class at Brown University last year.
