Instructional Coaching Works, Says a New Analysis. But There's a Catch (Research by Matthew A. Kraft cited)

A post in the Teacher Beat blog at Education Week features recent research coauthored by Taubman Center affilliate Matthew A. Kraft. The study analyzed 60 studies on teacher coaching—all were randomized controlled trials and all focused on students' standardized test scores and measures of teachers' instructional practice as rated by outside observers. The researchers found that instructional coaching improves both instructional practice and student achievement—more so than other professional development and school-based interventions.
