Anthony Pereira -The National Truth Commission: Brazilian Exceptionalism in Transitional Justice?
This presentation asks questions of the report of Brazil's National Truth Commission, published in December. It asks where the impetus for a truth commission came from in Brazil, and why it took so long to be created. It also asks to what extent the process and output of the National Truth Commission is similar to that of other commissions that have been created by other states, and to what extent it reflects a unique approach to the challenges of transitional justice.
