Amada Irma Pérez will discuss how she incorporates her own life into her books and will answer questions from the audience. Some of her books will be available for purchase.
Currently living in Ventura, California, Amada Irma Pérez was a kindergarten through university teacher for 25 years before she wrote her first autobiographical fiction bilingual picture book My Very Own Room/Mi Proprio Cuartito in 2000. She has since published From Her to There/Mi Diario de Aqui Hasta Allá and Nana’s Big Surprise/Nana, ¡Que Sorpresa! She has won numerous awards and is an advocate for encouraging multicultural understanding through universal themes.
This event is part of a collaboration between the International Charter School and Leviton Dual Language School in Providence and is funded by the Rhode Island Foundation Spark Grant.
