The fate of 800,000 young people who came to the United States as children is suddenly uncertain. President Trump appears ready to end the Deferred Action for Child Arrival (DACA) program that has allowed them to stay in this country. This could result in their mass deportation. Many of these young people would be forced to leave the country they call home and return to places they barely remember. Some could face serious danger.
Seven student journalists spent the spring term covering this looming crisis. Each has spent many hours learning from those who would be affected by DACA's termination. They will report what they learned, and then several immigrants from our local Providence community will share their own stories.
