Reighan Gillam – Animating Racism: Irony and Images of Dissent in Afro-Brazilian Media

Reighan A. Gillam was recently appointed an assistant professor of anthropology in the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She has been serving as an assistant professor of Afro-American and African studies at the University of Michigan. She is currently working on a book manuscript with the title, Strategic Visionaries: Afro-Brazilian Media Producers and the Politics of Representation. Gillam is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she majored in anthropology and African American studies. She holds a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
