This event showcases the emerging Deaf community in the region of San Martin of Northern Peru. Thanks to the recent efforts of Paz y Esperanza on the ground and a London based NGO, Deaf Child World Wide, educators and practitioners have been able to engage parents and their deaf children in order to establish an accessible and standardized public education system. This project is a focus on their efforts as well as the social and bureaucratic barriers they face in accomplishing their goal.

Alexander Laferriere's work focuses on the deaf community and instances of sign language and the educational policies that emerge. He creates media for the Watson Institute while also studying for his masters of public affairs there, utilizing both skills to make films that expand the bounds of knowledge for the institute.

Harold Bracy Jr. is an undergraduate student at Brown, whose studies span from computer science to learning languages like Portuguese and Chinese. These skills were vital to the Peruvian Deaf School film project.

Both are involved with the American Deaf Community.
