Latina Pay Equity- Latino Policy Institute's Tertulia

Wednesday, November 20, 2019

6:00pm – 8:00pm

Trade Pop-Up, 34 Governor Street, Providence, RI 02906

Join the Latino Policy Institute in its first round of Salons – or Tertulias. During our first Salon we will discuss the Latina Equal Pay Day, which coincidentally will be observed on November 20th.

Latina Equal Pay Day is the day when Latina’s pay catches up to that of white, non-Hispanic men from the previous year. After more than 50 years after the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Latina's typically earn only 54 cents for every dollar earned by white, non-Hispanic men and must work nearly 23 months to earn what white men earn in 12 months.

Our conversation will be moderated by Sol Taubin. Sol is a Latina fair housing, equal pay, and justice reform advocate passionate about youth work, urban development, and racial, economic and environmental justice. Formerly Director of Providence's civil rights agency, presiding over the city's Human Relations Commission and Equal Pay Taskforce, Sol currently supports progressive organizations with strategic planning, project management, advocacy and community engagement efforts, consulting with Systems Change Strategies.

LPI is excited and proud to make space for conversations and connections among old and new friends. We hope that you can join us.

If you cannot join us, please consider supporting LPI with a donation.

Food, wine and beer will be provided during the evening. Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone!

Gracias!
