"The Americas" Art Exhibit: Call for Submissions

The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) invites artists of the Brown University and the Rhode Island communities to submit their recent work for a juried exhibition on the theme “The Americas.” This show is part of the CLACS Sawyer Seminar entitled Race and Indigeneity in the Americas and the Art at Watson series at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. Fifteen artworks will be selected for inclusion by the jury. The exhibition will by juried by Leticia Alvarado, Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies and American Studies at Brown University, and by Sean Nesselrode Moncada, Assistant Professor of Theory and History of Art and Design at the Rhode Island School of Design.


Awards:
There will be a prize of $200 and a prize of $100 awarded at the selection of the Jurors.

Submission Guidelines:
Complete the Entry Form (https://goo.gl/forms/S0ZS97MtGCOtPVpC3) and upload a high quality digital photograph of the artwork by August 1, 2018. Maximum file size for Entry Form upload is 100 MB. Artwork in 2-D and photographs of 3-D works will be accepted. Maximum size for submissions is 30” in any direction.

Eligibility:
All artists of the Brown and Rhode Island communities are welcome to participate.

Entry Deadline:
August 1, 2018

Opening Reception:
September 7, 2018 3-5 pm, North Common Room, Watson Institute, Brown University (111 Thayer Street, Providence, Rhode Island)

Publicity and Photography:
Participants must agree to the use of their name, likeness, and artwork for any publicity material developed for the exhibition. In addition, participants must allow CLACS, Art at Watson, and exhibit visitors to photograph the artwork for educational and publicity purposes while it is on display.
