CLACS Center Manger Joins Respond Crisis Translation

June 2, 2020

Center Manager Kate Goldman has accepted a leadership position as Head of Academic and University Partnerships with Respond Crisis Translation. She will continue to serve as Center Manager at CLACS.

Respond Crisis Translation is a network of volunteer translators providing compassionate, effective, and trauma-informed interpretation and translation services for migrants and refugees. Our values are freedom of mobility and language democracy. The right to equality of access to all spaces and services for people of any and all nationalities, origins and native languages. We believe that mobility and the right to asylum should not be impeded by language barriers and that all people deserve access to excellent interpreters and translators as they move through the complicated process of applying for asylum.

As Head of Academic and University Partnerships, Kate will serve as the lead on issues regarding academia, intersections with universities and language pedagogy, student and faculty engagement, and strategic partnerships. Specifically, she will create strategic partnerships, engage university communities in Respond's work to support asylum cases, manage student and faculty engagement, and provide mentorship to undergraduate interns. She will also work with other Respond leaders to identify and pursue funding sources to support the entity's work.
