CLACS Announces the 2022 Undergraduate Essay Prize

CLACS announces the 2022 essay prize.

The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) is now accepting applications for the Undergraduate Essay Prize in Latin American Studies.

The $250 award will go to the best academic essay written in the context of a course taken at Brown or in the context of a study abroad program by a current Brown University undergraduate from any concentration on a topic related to Latin America, the Caribbean, and/or Latinx communities.

Submissions should be no less than 5,000 words and no more than 7,000 words, including notes and bibliography. Each student is allowed to submit one paper only. The paper may be from a previous academic year. The paper may be written in English or Spanish. It may be a capstone project, but not an honors thesis.

The deadline for submissions, which must include the full text of the paper in pdf format and a nominating letter by the faculty member to whom it was originally submitted, is 5 p.m. EST on May 8, 2022.

The award of $250 may be issued as a prize or reimbursement for research or travel expenses.
