LACA DUS Erica Durante receives 2022 Excellence in Research Mentoring Award

Erica Durante, Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACA) concentration, has received the 2022 Excellence in Research Mentoring (ERM) Award.

The intent of the award is to recognize and reward Brown faculty who have shown exceptional commitment in mentoring undergraduate researchers, as well as for their promotion, encouragement, and training of diverse students in undergraduate research.

The nominations that Professor Durante received all praised her work as an outstanding undergraduate research mentor as well as her commitment to developing research infrastructure in the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies to support students, including through the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dean of the College Rashid Zia has stated that Erica is a "model for other faculty at Brown" and described her work as exemplary. Congratulations, Erica!
