Nosheen Ali — Delusional States: Empire, Literature and Affective Histories of Kashmir

Nosheen Ali is a sociologist serving as Global Faculty-in-Residence at the Gallatin School, New York University. She researches state-making, ecology and Muslim cultural politics in South Asia, with a focus on Pakistan and Kashmir. Her book Delusional States: Feeling Rule and Development in Pakistan's Northern Frontier was published by Cambridge University Press (2019). Ali is the founder of UmangPoetry, a digital humanities initiative for understanding poetic knowledges in South Asia, and Karti Dharti, an alternative learning space for ecological inquiry.
