Rema Nagarajan is an editor of research at the Times of India, is currently a Nieman Global Health Reporting Fellow. Having completed the academic component of her fellowship at Harvard, she will now be doing her fieldwork in Brazil. The fieldwork is funded by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. Rema writes mostly on development issues, and health-related topics dominate her reporting. Her work includes a series of stories on the practice of pharmaceutical companies bribing doctors in India and the rising cost of healthcare. Her reporting on these issues has played a role in making it illegal for doctors to accept gifts from pharmaceutical companies in India. She continues to work on topics such as health financing, drug pricing and service delivery systems.
