Projit Bihari Mukharji is Visiting Professor in History at Ashoka University. He is also Professor of History of Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Educated in India and the UK, Mukharji's work explores the histories of medicine and science in modern South Asia. He is particularly interested in issues of marginality and marginalization in and through science and medicine. He is the author of three monographs, viz., Nationalizing the Body: The Medical Market, Print and Daktari Medicine (London, 2009), Doctoring Traditions: Ayurveda, Small Technologies and Braided Sciences (Chicago, 2016), and, most recently, Brown Skins, White Coats: Race Science in India, 1920-66 (Chicago, 2022).
