Asia Society India Centre hosted Brown-India Initiative director and Sol Goldman Professor of International Studies and the Social Sciences Ashutosh Varshney for a discussion on how regional identity has shaped the formation and efficacy of federalism in India. In this latest program of the Future of Asia series, Varshney was joined by Pramit Pal Chaudhuri, Foreign Editor of the Hindustan Times, to investigate the series theme of Identity and Culture. Varshney's talk addressed regional identity and federalism in India drawing on comparisons with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Indonesia.
