Indian Express column: "Modi the moderate"

In his latest article for the Indian Express, Professor Ashutosh Varshney argues that Modi's campaign rhetoric so far has been devoid of the core themes of Hindu nationalism, defying ideological templates. Prof. Varshney also argues that pragmatism is the likely reason for the moderation–not ideological conversion.  Desire to win power in Delhi makes ideological purity impossible.
