Gail Silver Memorial Lecture: Shahzia Sikander

October 5, 2016

October 19th, 2016
RISD Auditorium, 17 Canal Street

Pakistani-born and internationally recognized, Sikander’s (RISD MFA, 1995 Painting/Printmaking) pioneering practice takes Indo-Persian miniature painting as a point of departure. She challenges the strict formal tropes of miniature painting as well as its medium-based restrictions by experimenting with scale and media. Join us as Sikander reflects on her time at RISD and the work she created in the 1990s.

Limited seating; reservations required. Live simulcast available at the RISD Museum’s Metcalf Auditorium. Free.

Registration for Museum Members opens online on Oct. 1. Remaining spaces available to the public Oct. 8.
