In his July 26, 2021 Indian Express column, "What does it mean to be Indian?," Varshney reflects on the stresses and strains of what it means to be Indian based on the findings of a new report from The Pew Research Center.  The Pew Research Center, Washington DC, has published a massive report on "Religion in India: Segregation and Tolerance", which to Varshney's knowledge is to be the first nationally representative survey entirely devoted to religious belief and practice in India in recent decades, if not since independence.  It gives a remarkable entry into the complexities of Indian identity. Read the full article.
