Project Title: "Old Wars, New Tools: How alliance politics shapes vertical nuclear proliferation and technological diffusion in Pakistan & India."
Beenish Pervaiz is a Ph.D. candidate in political science focusing on International Relations and Security. Her research interests include the study of nuclear proliferation, strategy, and decision-making in an era of emerging and disruptive technologies. She concentrates on regional nuclear power programs including issues of security and strategic stability in Southern Asia. Her dissertation project explores how variation in alliance relationships impacts vertical proliferation and results in nuclear states making a diverse range of choices to maintain and strengthen their nuclear deterrence by acquiring and developing different platforms, weapons systems, and capabilities.
