Dr. Ramu Kharel is an Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine with an appointment in the Division of Global Emergency Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He received his Medical Doctorate fromĀ UT Southwestern and his Masters of Public Health from Harvard University. He completed a global emergency medicine fellowship at Brown University. Dr. Kharel works clinically in theĀ United States as practicing emergency care physician, and has research interest focused in Nepal. His research focuses on improving the emergency health system, and educating community health workers. He is the founder of a grassroots NGO in Nepal (HAPSA Nepal) which works on acute disaster response in the country. He has an active social media presence where he talks about community public health issues affecting Nepal and Nepalis
