Project Title: Middle Schools in India: Access and Quality
Steven Brownstone worked with the Aser Center in New Delhi to analyze the status of upper- primary and secondary education in India, with special emphasis on educational opportunities for girls, as part of a project funded by the MacArthur Foundation. The project was conducting a three-wave field study in Mahastra and Bihar which included a learning assessment, household survey, and school survey, and also included analysis of existing data. The results of our analysis was used directly by Aser's parent organization, Pratham, to shape their programs and provide evidence to guide the work of the wider education community.
