Third year economics graduate student, Ruchi Mahadeshwar, was recently selected for an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). The NSF GRFP recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM disciplines who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions.
Ruchi's project focuses on the impact of introducing (fully-subsidized) HIV self-testing technology on sexual decision making in transactional sex markets. In particular, she is evaluating the change in women's income-risk trade off using data from a randomized controlled trial conducted in western Kenya from 2017-2020.
Ruchi is also a CCSA summer fellow for her project studying the impacts of housing lottery policies on socioeconomic developments and integration in Mumbai.
