CLACS is delighted to announce the publication of the first-ever Spanish-language issue of the College Hill Independent, which was edited and coordinated by our very own Student Assistant, Felipe Félix Méndez ‘22.

November 24, 2020 The College Hill Independent

The College Hill Independent (commonly known as the Indy) is a weekly newspaper written, designed, and illustrated by Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design students. In an effort to make its work more broadly accessible to Spanish-speaking Rhode Islanders, the College Hill Independent is proud to present its first-ever issue fully in Spanish, including both translations of pieces previously published in English and original literary submissions. Volume 41, Issue 9 features stories about pressing challenges such as police presence in Providence public schools, Rhode Island’s budget during the current pandemic, and the burden of pollution in low-income minority communities along Narragansett Bay. The latest issue also includes a translated interview with the world-renowned musician, composer, and producer Nicolás Jaar ’12, as well as original poetry and prose written by Brown students.
