The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) is now accepting applications for the Undergraduate Essay Prize in Latin American Studies. The $500 award will go to the best academic essay written by a current Brown University undergraduate from any concentration on a topic related to Latin America, the Caribbean, and/or Latinx communities.
Submissions should be a maximum of 7,000 words, including notes and bibliography. Each student is allowed to submit one paper only. The paper may be from a previous academic year.
The deadline for submissions, which must include the full text of the paper in pdf format and a nominating letter by the faculty member to whom it was submitted, is 5 p.m. on May 31, 2020.
The award of $500 may be issued as a prize or reimbursement for research or travel expenses.

Please note: Papers may be submitted in Spanish or English. Papers may not consist of a thesis chapter.
