The 2019-2020 Annual Report can be found here

Message from the Director:
I wish to extend a warm welcome to the 2020-2021 academic year to our CLACS community at Brown, in Rhode Island, and beyond. Because of the Pandemic, we won’t be seeing you in person for a while but we hope to engage you in discussing key issues of our times in various online fora. Our activities this year will focus primarily, though not exclusively, on the effects of COVID 19 on the economies and societies of Latin America and the Caribbean as well as our diasporas in the US and on the racial and social justice movements and the manifestations of anti-Black racism here in the US and in Latin American and Caribbean. We invite your suggestions for programming around these issues. We also hope to engage more directly with our work and welcome suggestions from you as to how we can best work with you.

I am pleased to present our annual report and to acknowledge your important role in making our vibrant programming possible. I am grateful for your support during my term as Interim Director and am excited to continue working with you over the next three years during my term as CLACS Director. Please join us for our first activities of the Fall semester which explore the effects of COVID 19 on the Panamanian economy, a discussion on mobilizing Latinx voters, and a discussion on Latin American protests, led by Visiting Cogut Professor, Maria Inclan. Please visit our website for regular updates to our programming.

Warm regards,
Patsy Lewis
