Mabel Bianco
Specialist in Epidemiology and Medical Statics
Dr. Mabel Bianco is a specialist in Epidemiology and Medical Statics. She is the president and founder of Fundación para Estudio e Investigación de la Mujer (Foundation for Studies and Research on Women - FEIM), an NGO working to improve women's rights since 1989. Dr.Bianco is a researcher from the Center for Research Physical Resources in Health at the School of Architecture, University of Buenos Aires. She is a coordinator for Women Won’t Wait, a global campaign to eliminate VAW/HIV, and a coordinator for the International Women's AIDS Caucus.
From 1991 until 1999, she was the director of the Latin American and the Caribbean Women Health Network, and since 1996 she has been a member of the Buenos Aires Stratgic Planning Council. Dr.Bianco has also held the positions of Cheif of the HIV/AIDS National Program in the Ministry of Health and the coordinator for the HIV/AIDS World Bank project. From 2022 until 2011 she was a member of the UNAIDS Reference group on HIV/HR, and she has been twice elected as the NGO member NGO Member UNAIDS Program Coordinating Board. Until 2016, Dr.Bianco was a member of the Civil Society Regional Advisory Committee of UN Women. Since 2012, she has been co-chair of El Comité de ONG sobre la Condición Jurídica y Social de la Mujer de América Latina y el Caribe (Committee of NGOs on the Condition of Women from Latin America and the Caribbean - CoNGO CSW LAC), and a WMG member since 2014. Since 2018, she has served as the Coordinator of Women's Human Rights Defenders for the G20 Observatory and Head of the W20 Argentinian Delegation. Dr.Bianco was elected the 2019-2020 WMG Organizing Partner LAC and served as the C20 Italy Gender subgroup coordinator in 2021.
She was awarded: one of 150 women who moved the world in the news, Women Deliver, by the Argentinian Ministry of Health; 2017's NGO CSW NY Distinguished Woman of the Year; BBC's one of 100 inspiring/influential women in 2019; and was designated as an Apolitical award winner in 2021.
Dr.Bianco is the author of 10 books and more than 150 articles.
